A:    An Echo can either be in edit mode or display mode. When you create a draft Echo, it's in edit mode and looks like the box below on the left. When you send the echo or it's delivered, it's shown in display mode and looks like the box below on the right. Of course only you, the author, would have the Edit and Delete buttons on the bottom of the displayed Echo.


Echoes are completely free to all members of Echodify and are one powerful way we serve the legacy building community. They are ideal to convey your heartfelt sentiments to those who matter most in your life, echoing well into the future.

Legacies are a premium product and do carry a one-time, up-front cost, but they are an extremely powerful and innovative way to send forward in time your lasting legacy. They are ideal to not only convey your heartfelt sentiments to those who matter most in your life, but to preseve and pass on a digital legacy to them as well.

A:   We have engineered our pricing and the selection of the technology that powers Echodify to last beyond the longest Legacy lifetime (50 years). Part of this engineering is our pricing model that consolidates the lifetime cost of your data storage into a one-time, up-front cost.

This provides two things. First, by covering the entire lifetime cost of your data storage, you have entrusted us with everything we need to ensure your Legacy and its data survive to the end of its lifetime. Second, by charging a one-time, up-front cost, this removes the chance you will at some point be unable to continue to pay a monthly subscription, providing assurance your Legacy is completely provided for.

A:   No we most certainly do not and we never will with three reasonable exceptions we state here to be clear and fully transparent:

1. If you attach files to a Legacy you send to the Public Domain, you are deliberately making your content public and it would be publicly accessible upon and after the send date,
2. If you send a Legacy with objectionable material and it's reported by the recipient, we will at that point have just cause to review it and to take action if it violates our Terms of Service,
3. Lastly, along with all other service providers, we are legally obligated to cooperate with any valid legal order from a law enforcement agency.

Notwithstanding those three exceptions, respecting and safeguarding our member's privacy lies at the heart of our values as a company.

A:    When you obtain one or more Virtual Legacies, you are given access to a separate and private data storage space in your account called Common File Storage (CFS). Your CFS is not attached to any of your Legacies; it's separate and distinct, and it's into your CFS you upload your files. Total CFS storage space is the sum of the space of all Legacies you obtain.

This allows you to organize your legacy content (files) in a separate space from your Legacies, and then to separately attach specific files from your CFS to specific Legacies you create. Not all files need to be attached to a Legacy. You can attach all files, or a small subset; and you can attach different files to different Legacies you want to send to different people.

A:   All data is protected with industry-standard encryption (AES256) that satisfies financial transaction and healthcare information (HIPAA) requirements. In addition, we have gone above and beyond industry-standard practices, and what others do, because we recognize protecting your data is essential. Before your files are uploaded into encrypted data storage, every single one is separately encrypted providing you with double encryption.

We proudly use Amazon Web Services (AWS) as our data storage provider, and AWS has an outstanding and exceptional record for data integrity, reliability, and up-time. Therefore we would characterize the reliability of our data storage as industry-leading and exceptional.

A:   No they do not. First, if they are already a member of Echodify and you have a connection to them, designating them as a recipient of your Legacy is straight-forward and they would not know about your Legacy until the date it is sent. But of course they would already be connected with you in Echodify which may give them the hint you're planning something.

So, second, you can make a private profile representing any person (regardless if they're a member of Echodify or not) containing their name and contact information. Then you can select that private profile as a recipient of your Legacy. They will be notified by us when the date arrives for your Legacy to be delivered, and only then. A private profile is never used to contact that person in any way before that date.

A:   All delivered Virtual Legacies (same with Echoes and Shouts) that have private profile recipients are publicly searchable by name. So, after your Legacy is delivered, it would be incumbent upon your recipient to come to Echodify and search their name. They would find a matching record for the Legacy you sent and they would recognize your name as the author, providing them assurance they are a recipient of that Legacy. They would then be able to open a claim with us to validate their identity, and upon proving they are who they claim to be, we would release your Legacy to them.

A:   Currently that is not possible. The challenge is how would we know you have passed away without someone proving it to us. In the future it may be possible to link with Social Security death records and provide an option that come close to this. But as of now you would have to checkmark the option on the Virtual Legacy to "Send upon Receipt of Death Certificate," and you would have to give instructions to a trusted person to submit to us a copy of your death certificate. Once received and validated, your Legacy would be manually delivered (providing you have checkmarked that option).
